If you visit Rodrigues Island, you must absolutely try their local delicacies. Rodrigues creole seafood is very similar like Mauritian seafood with their unique way to present and garnish their dishes with papaya salad, achards and lime chillies amongst other great side dishes which consist of rice and local grain-sec such as lentils noir or rouge (black or red lentils) and haricot rouge (red beans). Most of local seafood dishes is served with chips grilled local fish or calamar.

THE OCTOPUS AND KONO KONO SALAD

Koko-Kono
Considered by many as their local “Aphrodisiac” which everyone craves on the island. This seafood salad is quite something, and you must definitely try this delicacy. It is served fresh or serve cold mostly prepared in the on the spot or in the morning and served for lunch or dinner. The plate is well garnished with green salads, sometimes pineapple, even watermelon with diced Rodrigues limes. They also often add parsley, thymes and other local herbs with freshly chopped ginger with a slash of local lime juice or coconut juice. Every Chef’s have their local signature and it is always delicious.

One of the best restaurant we ate this “Seafood Delicacy” was at Resto La Plage at Anse aux Anglais, the owner and host Mr Harry Lucchesi chef prepared this special Seafood Delicacy for us, which had these two Seafood plus some grilled local prawns, calamar, fish and we even add a tartare fish.
